The Better Half

During the pandemic I had been drawing a lot of my dog in the form of sketches and cartoons in my sketchbook. I wanted to create larger pieces of him and discovered these circle and half circle canvases to play with. I like creating with certain limitations because it can create some pretty unique results. I was using them for something completely different when it dawned on me to use it as a minimalist piece of an animal. So I tried it with my Kirby. Once it was finished it quickly made sense that he was quite literally my better half. We have been together for over 14 years now. It’s hard to imagine life without your pet after such a long time.
